When I first watched what is called the ‘Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy’ I knew I had stumbled on something special. Not because the genre suited me or that I could appreciate its subtle brand of humor, it was all of those and so much more. Edgar Wright is one of those directors who brings out the absolute best in the medium. He is an artist first and a commercially viable director second. His work is full of personality, from creative transitions to sophisticated storytelling. Almost all the time, they are downright fun.
Edgar Wright makes great films.
I found this video online, an interview between Christopher Nolan and Edgar Wright, discussing his film ‘Baby Driver‘. If you haven’t watched this film, stop what you’re doing and invest in the best two hours of your life. I shit you not, you will not regret it. And if by chance you do, then you have missed all the subtle nods and musical brilliance of the movie.
